Great Moments in Merton Society History

The Society Donates a Gift to the University Cottage Club Library

On May 25, 2000, the Members of the 1975 section of the Merton Society presented the following gift to the University Cottage Club for its Library in honor of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the infamous 1975 Merton Society Lecture Series

The gift consisted of the following items (shown left to right):

• a brief description of the Merton Society and the purpose of the gift;
• one of the first Merton Society medallions ever made;
• a rare 1864 print of the library at Merton College, Oxford; and
• one of the few remaining originals of Merton's Rules of Order, the ultimate governing document of the Society.
